Gerina Stevenson, who is the Mexican mother from Rita Stevenson Stevenson and Alan Stevenson Stevenson, was born in Mexico. Stevenson is of Mexican heritage, but is American in nationality. The desire to be a sportsperson was born as a toddler. Gerina began to play golf when she was 15 years old. Gerina attended Goddard High School for her secondary education. While in highschool, Gerina was the winner of in the New Mexico golf state tournament. She was a volleyball player and was also a participant in state tournaments. In the year 2003 she was enrolled in the University of Texas. She took home all the competitions she participated in during her final years. During the undergraduate years, she was awarded Conference USA's individual player of year, as well as UTEP's Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
