Tulloch's acting career began with being recognized under the moniker Bitsie. The nickname remained in use until the year 2017, which is when Tulloch made the decision to change her name to Elizabeth. When I first meet people I will introduce myself to them using Bitsie. It was a good name for me when I began acting in my 20s. In my mid-30s and I felt that for the sake of billing, I would like to go back to Elizabeth. It was a film I was making which it had never occurred to me. Producers were like Hey we noticed its Elizabeth when we were filling out your legal papers. Are you sure that's how you want billing? So I contacted both my agent and manager to get their opinions. The time has come to change your age. Bitsie must be a pretty cute name. It is cutesy. It was really just that. Elizabeth wasn't the name I used to identify myself. The name will be used for the rest of my life. Tulloch has both Scottish and Spanish heritage. The language she speaks as her first is identified as Spanish. However, she is not however able to believe that she's proficient in Spanish. The paternal grandparents of Tulloch's father are of Renfrewshire located in Scotland and her grandparents were from an area near Kirkwall. In an interview on BBC News she reported that we think the first Tulloch moved to the US around 1880 and the Kerrs came in the early 1900s. Within the U.S., she attended Bedford High School as well as Middle School. Tulloch is an Harvard University graduate with two majors: English and American Literature and Environmental and Visual Studies.
